The service had had to be conducted indoors. It was the middle of summer, but rain was lashing down on the castle and had been for the last few days. The couple were beaming and Albin was smiling just as much as they were.
He had gifted them a house next door to the castle and hoped before long that they would hear the patter of tiny feet. He felt that things were falling into place at last.
Evelyn and Lance were both teens now and Albin could detect the first glimmerings of romance as they danced together at the wedding.
The family had received another addition. Merlin had brought his imaginary friend Freya to life. She was even more startling to look at than Lance. With her bright, aquamarine eyes and dark red hair. She was going to take some explaining and made Lance look relatively normal.
She seemed very keen on fiddling around with scrap metal and would spend ages making different widgets.
Albin was starting to feel old. Watching Merlin off to school on his first day reminded Albin of his own childhood.
He remembered the funny looks and jeers he had received when he had turned up in his clothes made of fur.
Yet the other kids had eventually accepted him and he had enjoyed his time at school. He remembered the talks he would have with his father when they used to go fishing together.
and his little brother Sefu.
It was all so long ago now and before he knew it Merlin would be a young man. He had determined that Merlin would be in charge of the family once he left school. Laughing Bear had done the same with him and he felt it had been a wise decision. Albin would then be taking a back seat. He wondered what era Merlin would choose for them to live in and how he would redecorate their home.
I'm glad they did get married in the end. Now they need to sprog!
ReplyDeleteIt must be a big day for parents as well as kids for their first day at school. I've never thought of it like that before. Albin is watching his young son thinking about him becoming a man.
I love a good wedding through I think Albin could have shaved for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Albin is feeling a bit better, that things are getting back to being normal. Closer to the time he was thrown back from. It's interesting to see things develop knowing how things turned out last time. Everything is not the same as last time through.
I wonder if Freya and Merlin will fall in love, the children they would produce would look interesting.
Ah Albin's got to that age when he looks back at his life. He must miss his parents and brother and be so proud of his children.

DeleteI wish Freya would smile more she looks so bad tempered most of the time, maybe she will grow into her face? Her hair color and eye colour would make interesting children.
