Chapter 120 - Another Goodbye

As James River grew his looks were even more surprising than either of his parents could have imagined.

He had neither of his parents hair or eye colours.
However an explanation was not difficult to find.
Looking back at old family pictures it was clear to see that James colouring came from his Grandmother; Martha River. Still it did feel rather odd to Lizzie and Harold that James looked more like his Grandmother than either of them. They wondered if his facial structure would be more like her too. One reason Owen had been attracted to Martha was her unmistakeable large jaw that harked back to the founder of the family Laughing Bear River himself.

With the demands of parenthood coupled to the busy schedules and need to provide elaborate parties to invite other celebs, they had decided it was time to fire the maid and get a live in butler. Jamila Poirier cooked, cleaned, dealt with the press and very soon became invaluable.
Lizzie was now getting bit parts in different dramas on TV and starting to get her face known. Whilst Harold was now playing as a minor leaguer and enjoying playing sport rather than just coaching it.

Then just when all seemed to be going right the inevitable finally happened and they had to say goodbye to Owen. His last illness had been brief but the hole he left behind him felt huge.

His funeral was well attended, Owen had been the mayor of the town for many years and a very popular public figure.

Spock was there playing the piano that had been Owen's favourite and Henry comforted his Mum as they all tried to come to terms with their loss. The next few years would be tough but Lizzie felt that together they would carry on and make Owen proud.
