Chapter 60 - Gwen's Grief

Harriet was thriving and growing well, but as glad as Merlin was to have her in the family he felt the huge hole left by the death of his father.

At the funeral the whole family grieved together and said goodbye to Albin.

Then normal life began to resume.

Charli found the times when she woke up and went to bed the hardest. This was when she missed Albin the most.

In the daytime she busied herself with her grandchildren and this helped take her mind off her grief.

Merlin was busy with job having been promoted.

Only Gwen seemed unable to see a future now her Dad was gone. Before her Dad's death she had been seeing Peter Field.

Now when she turned to him for support he wasn't there and she felt even more alone. Her siblings both had spouses and families to busy themselves with. Gwen took to wandering around the house and garden crying, unable to concentrate on anything.

Merlin watched with concern and decided that something needed doing. Gwen needed to be taken out of herself, so he booked them both a holiday to Egypt. He would spend that time with his little sister and see if time away and a friendly ear, away from the house could help.

Gwen didn't want to go but Merlin was firm. Merlin hoped this time away would help as he wasn't sure what else to do and he hated seeing Gwen so low.
