Chapter 65 - A New Passion

Merlin had taken Owen fishing as a rite of passage, it was something that River father's did with their sons. 

Merlin himself had gone with his Dad when he was younger,

As had his father before him.

Owen took to it right away. He even started going out alone after school and fishing in all weathers. He also spent time at the library reading up about bait. 

Merlin watched his son proudly feeling that some of his River genes were showing through, Laughing Bear would have been pleased.

Merlin was now a Fire Captain 

and to his surprise the new recruit at the station turned out to be his own brother in law Youssef Nagi.

Merlin's fears about Youssef seemed to have been unfounded. He had wondered whether Youssef had married Gwen to get out of Egypt and because she was a wealthy woman. 

But several years later they still seemed very happy and Youssef had been working hard as a merchant in the market, rather than lazing at home.

Youssef got straight to work maintaining the fire engine. 

Gwen and Youssef still seemed very happy together and the only surprise was that years after marriage they still had no children. Gwen had always loved playing with her nieces and nephews when she had lived with them.

Merlin's children were growing up.

Harriet had now started school.

The twins Naomi 

and Dominic were toddling around. 

With only two children at home, Freya had taken up inventing again and felt that she was close to discovering something amazing.
