Albin had then become the Sim Fu Master and Merlin had hoped to train with his Dad.
Unhappily Albin had died soon after and Merlin hadn't wanted to return to China, his memories of the place were just too painful to him.
Then Merlin's family had grown, he had been given more responsibility at work and before he knew it many years had passed and he had never returned to China.
Now Owen was sixteen and the time seemed right. He wanted to give Owen a chance to be in charge while he was away and to get used to what it might feel like to take over in a few years.
China was just as breathtaking as Merlin remembered it.
Merlin set to work on his fitness levels first, he wanted to be as his peak before he tried to improve his Sim Fu technique.
Freya having heard Merlin talking non stop about Sim Fu on the flight over decided to try her hand at it and earned herself a yellow belt.
But she decided that she didn't want to just work away and she spent some time reading and enjoying the peaceful scenery.
Freya became good enough at Sim Fu that her and Merlin were able to spar together and Freya even managed to win one match.
Freya and Merlin also decided to visit the local sites, Merlin was fond of trying his hand at the puzzles dotted around the caves and famous landmarks.
In one cave he found an magnificent axe which local legend called Pangu's Axe. As he lifted it it seemed to vibrate in his hand and energy pulsed along it.
It was very handy in destroying big boulders and he used to destroy a very large one blocking a well.
Jumping in the well and swimming down a dark tunnel he found himself in an underground cavern.
The cavern was full of fiery puzzles and ruby filled treasure chests.
Even with all the exciting adventures, Merlin's highlight was still the Sim Fu tournament matches he took part in.
He rose through the tournament ranks, but didn't win enough matches to become Grand Master.
Merlin contented himself in thinking he would return once he was retired and try again.
You know Merlin looks no different now that when he was with Albin. He is still very young looking. It's nice seeing an old pic of Albin and him together. It’s a shame sims have to get old and die. Merlin had 4 children, must have kept Freya busy......
ReplyDeleteIt's great that Freya is giving Sim Fu a go. I love her purple clothes, very striking with her hair. Love the pic of Freya reading, the scenery is so pretty. I don't think I'd like to do Sim Fu against Merlin as he does look fierce doing Sum Fu with Freya.
I’d like a magic axe I could go round breaking things with. Looks like fun. The underground cavern looks good fun through a bit warm with all the fiery puzzles. I wonder if Merlin got burnt at all or did his fireman training come in handy……..
I do wonder if Merlin will return to China when he retires. He must be getting on even if he doesn’t look it so retirement can’t be that long away.

Merlin has a forever young face, I think myself they must have had plastic surgery. They are very rich. Yes four kids, never a quiet moment, thinking of less for the next generation.
ReplyDeleteMerlin was clever and turned off the fire traps before crossing them and the axe is great, breaks up rocks so you can get into different places.
I am thinking of taking Merlin back to China, there is a few more things for him to do there.
