Chapter 76 -Facing Melvin

"I need a word" Merlin said abruptly.

Melvin kept walking "Now isn't really a good time" he replied.

"Tough; it won't take me long." said Merlin and without waiting for a reply he continued "I am giving you a week to vacate this house."

Melvin stopped and smiled "But this my home, why would I leave it? My dear wife left it to me in her will."

"The house was never Melody's to leave you." Merlin responded, watching the confident smile on Melvin's face flicker.

Merlin continued "This house was built by my father and gifted to Kwasi and Melody on their marriage on the condition that it was for the him and his descendants. I am guessing Melody didn't know this. If you don't believe me then you can check the documents yourself. It was never Melody's to give to you."

Melvin's face had lost it's smile and his eyes had narrowed.

Merlin continued, "I was also interested to learn this is your third marriage and that all have involved elderly, rich women. My private investigators also tell me that there are some serious question marks over a big business deal you made a few years ago. Leave by the end of the week or I will make it my business to make you pay for interfering with my family"

With that Merlin turned and strode home leaving a speechless Melvin behind him.  

So it was just a few days later that the keys were posted through Merlin's door and when he went to inspect the house he found it deserted. Melvin and all his belongings were gone.

Within the week Einstein, Nichole and Hermoine were back in their own house again.

Nichole came over once they had moved in to thank Merlin.

"It feels so good to be home again, I don't know how we will ever repay you" said Nichole.

Merlin beamed at her and replied, "I am just glad you are back and we are neighbours again." 

No one was sure where Melvin had slunk off to, but Merlin felt sure he would think twice before messing with the River family again.
