Chapter 108 - Sibling Marriages

Owen was finding plenty to do with his retirement.

From playing his base.

To hanging out with celebrities,

to working hard in his garden. He even decided to tone himself up at the local gym.

In the wider River family many changes had taken place over the last few years. Both Owen's sisters were remarried.

Harriet who like Owen had retired, had married Robin River. Robin was a generation younger than Harriet and the relationship had developed quickly. 

If Owen had known of it sooner he would had done his best to stop it but the first he heard was when his sister announced on returning home from a holiday that she had remarried. Harriet was a very wealthy woman and Owen felt in his heart of hearts this was her attraction for Robin. 

He comforted himself thinking that he had thought the same when Aisha had married his father and yet she had seemed to love him very much. Maybe Robin did really love his sister.

The bigger surprise was Naomi's marriage. Naomi had first married when she had just been eighteen to Keith Shah. Keith's heart condition had given them only a few years together which had suited Naomi very well as she had then been a rich widow. 

There had been various boyfriends since then but nothing serious. Now she seemed to have finally found someone to love. She had married Dion Jefferson and at 45 was going to become a mother for the first time. 

Owen was very excited for her and glad to see her settled.

Whilst Aisha and Newton had welcomed a little baby boy to their family. Edfu picture was now splashed all over the papers, with Aisha's increasingly popularity everyone was interested in her good news.

The only one not so keen was Hasani River, Aisha's oldest son. 

He decided although he was only just seventeen it was time to get his own place, he was tired of all the press and constant surveillance whilst living with his Mum.

Closer to home Henry was in a drama of his own. He had a big crush on a very pretty girl in school called Ruth Field. 

However Ruth was going out with Will River and had no interest in Henry what so ever.

Henry spent ages chatting to her and texting her.

He even asked her to the Prom and she turned him down so kindly that he felt in his heart of hearts she would have said yes if it wasn't for her boyfriend, Will.

With that conviction and in a moment of madness he launched himself at her and kissed her.

It was over quickly and at first she just looked stunned.

It wasn't long though until she started shouting and Henry wished the ground would open up and swallow him. 

But even after this disaster, Henry was still determined to woo Ruth and Lizzie looked on in wonder at her brother's madness and hoped it wasn't catching
