Albin had started school and was learning to read and write, something neither his Mum or Dad could do.
Albin had joined the Scouts after school club, where among other things they were honing his fishing skills. He hadn't made any really close friends yet, so his parents hoped that perhaps he would through scouts.
Little Feet found most of her time taken up looking after her little ones and her garden.
However one day after the children were in bed she went on a solitary walk. She loved the freedom of being by herself. Her footsteps led her back to the standing stones where Laughing bear had proposed to her all those years ago. As she stood there staring out across the countryside, something caught the light and drew her gaze. A seed was lying on the ground. It was unlike any seed she had seen and she could confidently say it didn't belong to any of the plants she had grown so far.
She looked around and found two more strange looking seeds. Once home she planted them and knew all that was left now was patience to see what they would grow into.
Laughing Bear had managed to make a little extra money fishing and had used it to add some more furniture to their house.
Kainda was now a proper little girl and had a real look of her father and and was learning to take her first few faltering steps.
Kwasi, her twin brother was much lighter skinned, but had his Mum's dark hair colour.
Little Feet found herself pregnant once more and was happy to welcome another little boy, they named him Sefu.
Sometimes Laughing Bear would watch his family and wonder what the future would hold. Laughing Bear and Little Feet had been strangers to this land. Through kindness they had been given the land they now lived on and had made a life for themselves. They had never really been a part of the neighbourhood, they were just too different. They had made a few friends, but spent most of their time working the land. Their kids would be more involved with the world around them. Going to school here, learning the skills needed for getting a job and eventually marrying here. Yet they to, would not fully be of this place. He just hoped that they would all find their own way and be happy.
I love the picture of Albin with Laughing Bear. It’s great that Laughing bear is teaching him skills.
ReplyDeleteI love Laughing Bears face. He looks like he is wondering why Albin is there.
Kainda and Kwasi are very cute. I love that Kainda has the look of her dad about her.
I'm interested about the seeds. I wonder if they are special and what will grow from them.
It's good that the kids are going to learn to read and write. They will get a wider opportunity of jobs. I wonder if they will find it hard to fit into the world.
It’s nice that they have had another baby.

Hehe Laughing bear does look a little confused now you mention it, he is supposed to be looking down at his son with pride :).
ReplyDeleteI think Albin looks like his Mum and Kwasi and Kainda look like their Dad.
