In a few months he had managed to gain a Level 9, black belt.
It became an obsession with him, he trained all hours of the day and night. His sleep patterns went out the window.
So it happened that he was up late one night unable to sleep and he decided to take a walk and saw the most amazing sight. A glowing white horse which when he looked closer appeared to be a unicorn.
The gorgeous creature took Albin's breath away. He had always had an interest in horses from his teenage years. It was him who had bought his own horse Patches and even ridden in a few competitions.
But once he had reached adulthood and taken charge of the River household he had had, no time to care for his horses. In the end Patches and her offspring had gone to live with Kainda when she had married Dean.
Albin approached the Unicorn in some trepidation, but found that it was very friendly.
It sniffed him carefully and then the something unexpected happened. He saw its horn start to sparkle and he was lifted into the air.
He was left glowing all over and filled with an amazing sense of peace and purpose.
He stayed there getting to know it until the sun started to rise and then in a flash of light it vanished. Albin was now determined to go for a few more night time rambles and try and meet this incredible creature again.
The River family were all growing up. There were now no children under school age and the Albin, Kwasi and Kainda were showing their age.
Both Kwasi
and Kainda had now gone grey. Kwasi was retired and received a handsome pension.
Kainda in spite of her age, could still sometimes be seen riding Peaches past the River household.
Kwasi's twins; Einstein
and Marie Curie had both started school.
As had Kainda's youngest Clark.
Gwen, Albin's youngest had now reached the terrible teens.
Both Merlin and his imaginary friend Freya were only a few years off graduating school and Albin watched with pleasure his oldest boy growing into a fine young man. Soon the running of the River family would fall to him.
Go Albin, Go Albin. It's nice that he is so dedicated however messing up his sleeping patterns is not good. Poor Charli not seeing much of her husband anymore. It's so nice he meets a unicorn. He looks so young with Patches. The good old days. It's a shame life got in the way of his love of horses. I suppose we all have to grow up sometime.
ReplyDeleteI love that when the unicorn is lifting him it's thinking of books. Maybe it off to the library next.......
Nooooooo, Kwasi and Kainda are getting old.
Einstein and Marie Curie are soooo cute. I wonder what they will look like as adults. Clark is soooo pretty. I know he is a boy but still…….. Gwen looks like a lovely young lady.
Not long and Merlin will be running the family………

That Unicorn looks grand. I want to know what it was thinking about in that first shot.
ReplyDeleteNo kids of school age. Looks like we need a new patter of tiny feet!
