Chapter 50 - Time to Grow Up

Just a few weeks later, Lance and Evelyn were in front of the same fountain staring into its depths.

They had spent the whole day together in the park celebrating.
Lance had finally made it onto the team and now played in the minor leagues. At last he had a regular income. Evelyn had just published her third novel "Cassandra's Curse". It was a romance novel and though not a best seller was a moderate success.

She was musing on her latest novel when Lance asked,

"Why are you frowning?"

Evelyn responded, "Just thinking about my latest book, I am not sure I am cut out to be a best selling author. I guess its because it isn't where my heart is, but there isn't anything else I can do. I know Dad won't let me get a job."

"If you could though, what would you do?" asked Lance inquisitively.

Evelyn looked across at him, "Remember how I used to write for the school paper? I loved doing that. Finding out the latest news and meeting the deadline."

"Well maybe that dream is closer than you think." said Lance mysteriously and raised her to her feet as Evelyn looked questioningly at him.

Lance bent down on one knee and Evelyn looked on in surprise as he took something from his pocket.

The diamond ring caught the light and Evelyn's face lit up.

Lance asked "Will you be my wife?"

Evelyn nodded breathless with excitement and stared transfixed as Lance slipped the ring onto her finger.

At last she was going to be married.

Go Lance. You worked hard and got on the team. Well done.

So sweet that Evelyn and Lance are going to be married. So nice that she will now get to follow her dream as well as be with the one she loves. I love the first pic of them together. They look so happy.

Love the pic of Evelyn getting the ring and the o of her face. Priceless.
