Chapter 26 - Looking for Love

Albin and Charli were excited at the news that they were expecting another baby.

Albin's whole family rejoiced with him, but his happy family life made his siblings wonder if they were missing something in their own lives.

Albin, Kwasi and Kainda were all successful in their chosen careers, but only Albin had managed a successful relationship and now was impatiently awaiting the arrival of his second child. Albin was hoping his second child would be a boy. He loved Evelyn dearly but he knew that he wanted a male heir, it was the medieval way.

Kwasi had been very upset when Claire Beech had cheated on him with Gary Pond. That was a long time ago now and he had forgiven her. In fact her romance with Gary had led to marriage and a child of their own called Chin-han. He had seen them together and realised that they were soul mates and just meant to be together.

After a big change around at work, he had gotten to know Melody Pond, whom Albin had once dated. He liked her very much, but there was always something rather odd about her. One minute you were laughing and joking with her and the next she was shouting abuse and storming off and you had no idea why. He knew girls could be emotional and unpredictable, but she seemed more so.

There was also Sophie Beech, he had once flirted with at a party, she worked in his building. Kwasi wasn't sure who he liked best and he felt that getting to know them both as friends at the moment was his best bet.

Kainda had her heart set on one man and she decided that if she ever wanted to be more than friends with Dean she would need to make the first step. She was almost sure he liked her but yet still he said nothing.

He had been very kind to her when she had lost her Dad and had comforted her whilst she cried on his shoulder.

One evening when he had visited and was sitting watching the stars with her she took her chance. She hadn't been quite sure what to say but had just blurted out "Will you go out with me?"

Dean had turned round to look at her with a shocked expression on his face which had melted quickly into a smile as he replied "Of course" and hugged her.

With this barrier finally down they talked it all over and it turned out Dean had been shy and had not felt able to ask her out. His family were poor and Kainda lived in a castle with her rich brother. Dean had felt intimidated and decided that he needed to prove himself. He had left school and started work as a private detective. This however had not gone well and he had been trying to work out his next step, all the time worried that Kainda might lose interest or be snapped up by a more worthy man.

Kainda and Dean became quickly inseparable. Albin had strict rules governing courting, no kissing until the wedding day.The young couple did not care, but enjoyed spending time together and Albin looked on approvingly. Kainda was getting older and he felt that it was right she was thinking of settling down and starting her own family. He hoped they might be able to hold another wedding in the house very soon.

  1. It doesn't seem medieval of Kainda to ask a boy out but it's good she did. Perhaps Dean wouldn't ever have got the courage up?

    1. I think she could have waited all her life and he would never had said anything. He didn't ask her to the Prom.
