Chapter 30 - Mid Life Crisis

Albin had worked at the Police Department since he left school and had seen many bosses and partners come and go.

On Albin's first day there had been his partner Hal, who had then mysteriously retired over night.

Then he worked with Anita Lobos for a few years.

Anita had been promoted above him and he worked with Lydia.

Lydia had now retired and Danny Field was his new partner.

Albin hoped that as Danny was young, he might keep this partner. Their work required total trust between partners and this was hard if he kept having to adjust to someone new. He had a lot in common with Danny as they both had young families. Danny and his wife Megan had just had their first son Rowan.

The town as a whole seemed to be awash with babies. Albin was now an Uncle with Kainda and Dean giving birth to a little girl called Lois, whilst Dean's sister had just had a little boy called Luther.

Kwasi was very keen on his little niece and went to visit her often, she had her mothers dark complexion. Both Kwasi and Charli had noticed that things were still not right in the Lutz household. Dean and Kainda were not often in the house at the same time and yet no one spoke of it. Kainda had made her choice and now little Lois was there to everyone felt it was best to try say nothing and make the best of it. Charli often tried to pop over in the day with Merlin and Kainda always looked pleased to see them.

Albin still hadn't noticed anything was amiss with Kainda, he had been distracted by finding a few wrinkles on his face and grey hairs on his head. The realisation hit him suddenly that he was not a young man any more, but approaching middle age. He combated this by having a tattoo.

and trying to get his body back in shape at the gym.

He was determined to recapture his youth and even looked into getting a new flash car. However with Kwasi and Melody now dating he was doing his best to manage the money in such a way that he would be able to buy Kwasi a new house just as he had Kainda. 

Albin thought that perhaps an engagement would soon be announced with Melody spending a lot of her free time at the house and getting to know the whole family. Albin had been a little dubious about Melody but getting to know her again she seemed a different girl.

Albin hoped that Kwasi found as much happiness with Melody as he had found with Charli
