Chapter 18 - Heartache

Albin's job was going really well and he had already had one promotion. He was getting on well with Anita and they had become firm friends. Anita had decided to adopt a new hair style which Albin thought suited her much better.

Albin found Anita made him laugh and he liked her company and yet felt no spark. He didn't think she was the future wife he was searching for.


He was very much infatuated with Charli and had been getting to know her better. So far things were going well. Albin had even bought her some red roses which had been well received and he had high hopes. 

Little Feet looking on hoped that this wouldn't be another disaster and couldn't help feel uneasy when Albin said he was going to ask Charli out on a date.

The twins had now graduated. Kwasi was voted top of the class and most artistic by his classmates.

While Kainda was voted most likely to take over the world.

Kwasi had fulfilled the dream he had since he was a child and managed to get an entry level job at the local Water treatment centre. At last he was going to be a scientist.

His boss Maxwell Beech was the father of his girlfriend Claire.

Kainda knew that she wouldn't be able to get a job, that wasn't what medieval women did. But neither did she see herself sitting round the house doing needlework. She had a will of her own and also had a way with her brother Albin. 

Albin found his adult life very busy and Kainda had seen that Patches needed a new owner who had time to care for her. So Kainda proposed to him that she should take care of the horse in return for learning to ride. This she would do alongside her other chores such as tidying and caring for the garden. Albin agreed readily, feeling that riding was a medieval activity.

Patches was slowly getting on in years and as she had shown herself to be a fine racer it seemed prudent to Kainda to breed her. They paid for a stud and Patches gave birth to Peaches.

 

A week after the graduation, Albin organised a graduation party. All the important people were there. Claire took a shine to Peaches and fed her a bottle.

Albin, popping indoors to check on drink levels was a little worried about Sefu who he found chatting to himself.

Sefu had a lovely evening chatting to Cassandra and pointing out the stars. He was definitely smitten.

Kwasi on the other hand had a terrible time. Before the party started he had been on top of the world. Graduating top of the year, pretty girlfriend and a new dream job. Not long after the party started he had heard it. A voice had floated over a sudden lull in conversation "..Claire kissing Gary.." Kwasi had noticed that Claire had not been quite herself that evening and hearing this he suddenly knew why, she had been cheating on him with Gary Pond.

Kwasi had a quick temper and marched over the Claire, who didn't deny it. They had a big shouting match and it ended with Kwasi telling Claire he would never forgive her and she would be his lifelong enemy.

Kwasi had decided that he could never trust her again and wanted nothing more to do with her. If he had seen her face later in the party, maybe he would have softened.

Kwasi vowed he wanted nothing more to do with love and would focus on his career. He just hoped Maxwell, his boss would not treat him any differently for breaking up with his daughter.
