Chapter 24 - Life Continues

Albin watched his mother carefully after his father died, worried that she would soon follow him, but although she was obviously very sad to lose her husband there was no sudden decline in her health.

The family created a little cemetery on their grounds with the graves of Sefu and Laughing Bear and said their farewells to the brave man who had faced a new scary world and succeeded so well.

Little Feet had taken up painting and seem to take solace in her canvas.

She also loved taking care of Evelyn who was growing up into a little girl and loved chatting to her grandmother.

Evelyn had inherited her grandmother's brilliant green eyes, but in other respects looked very much like her mother.

Albin had been a little concerned watching the maid Olvando and his Mum chatting. It looked almost as if Olvando was flirting with his Mum and that she was welcoming his advances.

He talked it over with Charli who pointed out that it was best he ignored it in his Mums present state of health. Little Feet was sensible and perhaps the attention was good for her if it took her mind off her sadness. Albin decided to follow his wife's advice but perhaps drop a hint to the maid that his mother had no money of her own as it had all passed into his care as head of the household. Perhaps that would cool his interest.
Albin and Charli were still very much in love and Little Feet was happy that her son had found his soulmate. Little feet had had her doubts, the courtship had been so speedy, but it was obvious that they were very happy together.

Kainda had started collecting trophies in both beginner jumping and racing competitions and continued to train hoping to take on advance and international competitions. The higher the level the more money she would be able to make. Patches was now starting to go grey whilst Quicksilver was now fully grown.

Kainda was busy earning money as a jockey but sometimes wondered if perhaps she wanted more from life. Dean had been very kind to her at her Dads funeral, holding her whilst she cried but still had not asked her out. She wondered if he felt it was indelicate at her father's funeral or if he just wasn't interested.

Kainda was starting to think that if she wanted her relationship with Dean to be anything more than friendship, she might have to make the first move.

  1. It's great that Little Feet has such a big family to take care of her, and indeed for her to take care of and enjoy.

It looks like Albin is doing a great job at being the head of the household, watching out for everyone under his care,
